A Food Desert describes an area that is geographically isolated from diverse food choices. Typically these areas are devoid of mainstream grocery stores or markets and are served instead by small convenience stores, Fast Food outlets or other markets which provide only limited food choices. These choices often don't include fresh or unprocessed foods, which is shown to have an adverse effect on the health of the consumer.
